Medium GFRC Hex Fountain Basin
Create a clean, recirculating fountain installation with a compact 41-gallon reservoir made for Blue Thumb GFRC and other lightweight fountain pieces. Its supported top deck, recessed plumbing channels and service-access chamber keep the working equipment below the finished landscape while leaving the pump reachable for routine care.
Basin only — this is not a complete fountain kit.
The hexagonal basin stores 41 gallons below the fountain while its supported top deck provides a stable platform for a properly matched lightweight piece.
Recessed channels provide a planned route for fountain hose, while the molded manifold pocket helps organize multi-outlet plumbing when the fountain design calls for it.
A dedicated pump-access chamber and cover make it easier to inspect or remove the separately purchased pump after the surrounding finish is installed.
Use PB1953 for a lightweight GFRC or similar fountain piece up to 24 inches high when the fountain footprint, total static weight and water-return pattern fit this basin. The current listed maximum static load is 500 pounds.
Do not choose by fountain height alone. Heavy point loads such as vase fountains and real-stone fountains may require an AquaBox® fountain reservoir , even when the piece appears to fit. Follow the basin recommendation supplied with the exact fountain kit or ask Blue Thumb to confirm the match before ordering.

Match the reservoir to the fountain’s footprint, weight and expected water movement. The exact fountain kit recommendation should take priority over this overview.
This is a built-in reservoir. Review the official guide before excavation and confirm utilities, fountain fit, pump selection, tubing and finishing materials in advance.
Select the viewing location with practical access to water and electricity. Locate underground utilities before digging.
Trace the basin and excavate slightly wider and as deep as the basin. Remove sharp rocks and roots. If using a splash apron, set the basin about 1.5 inches below grade.
Level the basin from side to side and place the pump-access opening where it can be serviced. Backfill carefully, leaving the required route for the pump cord and optional water line.
Set the separately purchased pump in the reservoir, attach the correct hose and fittings, and route the hose through the molded channel before setting the fountain piece.
Fill the reservoir, test the pump and adjust flow to limit splash. Confirm even water coverage and service access before adding decorative stone or the final landscape finish.
Replace water lost to evaporation and splash before the pump draws air. The optional auto-fill kit can maintain the operating level when correctly installed and supplied at the specified pressure.
Check the pump and reservoir for accumulated debris and keep the pump-access cover reachable. Adjust excessive splash rather than relying on frequent refilling.
Remove the pump and store it submerged in water where it cannot freeze. Do not drain the buried basin for winter; after the spring thaw, drain, clean and refill it with fresh water before reconnecting the pump.
Use the current installation and warranty documents for site work, setup, maintenance and coverage terms.
This official Blue Thumb video demonstrates the separately purchased ABDAUTO Fountain Basin Auto Fill Kit. The auto-fill kit, pressure regulator and water-supply connection are not included with PB1953.

Blue Thumb’s Sales/Tech Team can help confirm the fountain footprint, weight distribution, water movement, pump requirements and installation plan before you order.
No. This listing is for the medium reservoir basin. The fountain piece, pump, tubing, plumbing fittings, decorative stone, electrical service and site-preparation materials are not included.
Blue Thumb lists PB1953 for GFRC and other lightweight fountain pieces up to 24 inches high, with a current maximum static load of 500 pounds. Confirm the exact fountain’s footprint, total weight and water-return pattern before selecting the basin.
Not automatically. Heavy point-load items such as real-stone and vase fountains may require an AquaBox® reservoir. Follow the fountain kit recommendation or ask Blue Thumb to verify the correct basin.
No pump is identified as included. Select the pump and plumbing to match the fountain’s required flow, tubing size and vertical lift.
Yes. The basin includes a molded spinweld connection for the optional ABDAUTO Fountain Basin Auto Fill Kit . The valve is sold separately, and a 30 PSI regulator is required when the incoming supply pressure exceeds 30 PSI.
The installation guide calls for an excavation slightly wider and as deep as the basin, with sharp rocks and roots removed. When using a splash apron, set the basin approximately 1.5 inches below grade so the surrounding surface can slope toward it.
In climates with prolonged freezing, remove the pump and store it submerged in water in a freeze-free location. Leave water in the buried basin during winter to help prevent ground expansion from lifting it. Drain, clean and refill the basin after the spring thaw.
We offer a lifetime manufacturer warranty. Blue Thumb’s current plastics warranty covers branded engineered-plastic fountain basin reservoirs for the original purchaser, subject to proper installation, no post-purchase modification and the complete written terms.
