Large Elite Pump Canyon

Blue Thumb Elite Series | Pond-Less Waterfall Components

Protect your high-capacity waterfall pump while keeping it accessible for service. Our Large Elite Pump Canyon is a heavy-duty, one-piece molded pump vault designed for the underground reservoir of a large pond-less waterfall or cascading stream.

Its reinforced octagonal design resists pressure from surrounding rockwork, while slotted walls let water enter the pump chamber. The removable lid provides convenient access for maintenance without dismantling the entire reservoir.

The rigid molded structure helps protect your submerged pump beneath a rock-covered waterfall basin. Vertical openings allow water from the surrounding reservoir to enter the chamber for recirculation.

The detachable top lid gives you access to inspect, clean, or remove the pump. You can keep the working components below the finished rock surface while planning a removable access point.

The Large model is designed for substantial pond-less waterfall installations that need a high-capacity pump chamber and a larger underground reservoir. Its published maximum pump flow is 20,000 GPH.

The Pump Canyon houses the pump, while appropriately sized Basin Matrix boxes and a waterproof liner create additional underground water storage. Water returns through the decorative rockwork, enters the reservoir, and is pumped back to the waterfall spillway.

Confirm your pump's physical dimensions, discharge-plumbing clearance, flow requirements, and the overall reservoir design. The 20,000 GPH rating is the canyon's maximum specified pump flow, not a guarantee of actual waterfall output.

Important: The 57-gallon canyon capacity does not represent the total water volume required for your completed waterfall. The surrounding reservoir must be sized for operating water demand and shutdown drainage.

Choose the proper Pump Canyon based on the pump's rated flow, physical dimensions, plumbing requirements, and planned reservoir depth. These figures compare the three Elite Pump Canyon models.

For lower-flow installations, compare our Small Elite Pump Canyon and Mini Elite Pump Canyon . A lower pump flow requirement alone does not guarantee the smaller vault will accommodate your specific pump and plumbing.

The Large Pump Canyon is installed within a waterproof underground reservoir at the lower end of your pond-less waterfall or stream. Plan pump access, water-storage capacity, and plumbing routes before excavation.

Determine the waterfall route, pump location, and Basin Matrix layout. Our standard installation guide specifies a 34-inch excavation depth for the Large Pump Canyon. Locate buried utilities before digging.

Remove sharp roots and stones from the excavated area. Install protective underlayment followed by rubber liner. Position the Pump Canyon and surrounding Basin Matrix boxes according to the installation guide.

Place a properly sized submersible pump inside the canyon. Connect the pump discharge and plumbing to the upper waterfall spillway. Orient the hose opening toward the plumbing route and retain access to the lid and power cord.

Complete the reservoir and stream rockwork, fill the system, and test circulation. Check water levels, connections, and the return path before completing the landscape. Mark the access-lid location with a removable identifier rock for future service.

Use appropriately sized Basin Matrix water-storage boxes around the Pump Canyon. Their open internal storage spaces increase the available reservoir volume while supporting the planned rockwork above.

Water pressure: The fill kit is rated for a maximum of 30 PSI. We recommend reviewing the applicable pressure-regulator requirements before connecting it.

Browse our Pump Canyon and Reservoir collection for related storage and waterfall-system components. Select the pump, plumbing, and spillway based on the project's actual operating requirements.

Monitor water levels: Keep sufficient water in the reservoir for continuous pump operation. Low water levels can damage the pump.

Keep the chamber clear: Periodically remove the access lid and inspect the pump intake and lower chamber for collected debris or gravel.

Inspect plumbing: Check the pump discharge, connections, and waterfall return path for leaks or restricted flow.

Prepare for winter: If shutting down the waterfall, follow the pump manufacturer's storage requirements. Our maintenance guide recommends cleaning and storing the pump submerged in water in a frost-free location and leaving the underground reservoir at least half full to help prevent freeze-thaw heaving.

Our Large Elite Pump Canyon is covered by Blue Thumb's lifetime manufacturer warranty for qualifying manufacturing defects in our engineered plastic components.

Coverage applies to the original purchaser and requires proper installation according to the applicable instructions. Post-purchase modifications void coverage, and labor and freight costs are excluded. Review the complete warranty terms .

This coverage applies to the Pump Canyon itself. Separately purchased pumps and other equipment have their own applicable warranties.

Our Sales and Technical Team can help you evaluate pump dimensions, maximum flow requirements, reservoir capacity, and whether the Large Pump Canyon is the right choice for your waterfall project.

No. This listing includes the molded Pump Canyon vault and its access lid. The submersible pump, discharge plumbing, water-storage matrix, liner, and waterfall spillway are purchased separately.

The maximum pump flow for the Large Elite Pump Canyon is 20,000 GPH. We do not recommend exceeding that rating. Also confirm the pump's actual physical size and the room needed for discharge plumbing before purchasing.

No. The 57-gallon specification applies to the Pump Canyon itself. A complete pond-less waterfall requires enough underground water storage for operating circulation, evaporation, and water draining back into the basin when the pump shuts off. Basin Matrix boxes can provide additional storage.

Our standard installation guide specifies a 34-inch excavation depth for the Large Elite Pump Canyon. The full excavation dimensions depend on the layout and number of Basin Matrix boxes. Installations using the optional Large Pump Canyon Extension require additional planning.

Keep the pump-access lid accessible and periodically inspect the chamber for debris, gravel, or anything restricting the pump intake. Monitor the operating water level and follow the pump manufacturer's cleaning and seasonal storage instructions. Our pond-less maintenance guide provides additional winterization procedures.
